Malaysian Idol - Final Six Elimination

by @ 11:27 pm. Filed under Malaysian Idol

Sometimes I really pity the poor bastard. No, I’m not talking about Roslan Aziz (this time). I am, of course, referring to my housemate - my token live entertainment on Sunday nights in front of the television. Okay, “entertainment” might be stretching it a bit, but he certainly does amuse me sometimes. Take for example his constant ramblings on Phat Fabes’ FCUK shirt. For crying out loud, granted that it might be a play on the word FUCK, FCUK actually stands for French Connection United Kingdom, and I just wished I would’ve slapped himself silly, but what fun would that be, eh? Has he not seen me wear my “fcuk fear” black v-neck t-shirt ever? Mmm.. probably not, cause the last time I wore it was during the Travis/Coldplay concert in Singapore. And probably because I have so outgrown the shirt. Literally. HafuckinHa.

And as the contestants were placed into two different groups (I was so waiting when this would happen), Mr Know-It-All just had to light up his cigarette and non-chalantly (and no less confidently) announced that any fools would know that Group A (Jac/Nikki/Saiful) would be safe and Group B (Vick/Andrew/Dina) would be the bottom three. I was secretly wishing that it would be the other way round just to spite his cocky know-it-all self. And, whooops, I accidentally got my wish.

Apparently, Jac, Nikki and Saiful were in the bottom three. And based on the look on Jien’s and Aleya’s face (and how they conducted themselves), I can’t truthfully say it was a surprise. I knew Vick, Andrew and Dina have a very big fan base. Saiful was the first one to be announced that he would be safe. Here we go again. You can expect many many many disgruntled viewers crying out foul saying that Saiful should go, he should leave, he doesnt deserve to be there, blafuckingbla. I have never voted for Saiful in this competition, but what can you do? Whining ain’t gonna make things different. All that you CAN do is by sending in your votes to make sure your favourites stay in the competition. Please la.. no talk is better than all talk, mmmkay? So quit complaining. It’s not like it’s Saiful’s fault that he’s there.

It was then down to Jac and Nikki. I was ready to throw in the towel (yeah, I keep saying that week in week out) if Jac would be the one to go. Fortunately, it wasn’t her time to go. Unfortunately, that meant Nikki would be leaving the competition. It’s a shame. Was I sad to see her go? Well, part of me did. Some of her performances really impressed me. But as she herself has said, she really has a lot of room for improvement. I like her honesty and openness to admit her weaknesses. With that kind of attitude, and some more practise, do you have any doubt that this girl will make it far? No? I didn’t think so. I wish Nikki all the best of luck, and her farewell performance was much better compared to the one of Friday - a sign to show that she does indeed take the constructive criticism seriously. Bravo, Nikki.

This just in : several friends of mine just told me they did not get any confirmation SMS when they tried to vote for Nikki today. At first I thought it was just one of them, but I figured something fishy is definitely going on when I get more and more complains from my other friends. (Sorry but I only sent votes in for Jac and Dina this week, so I can’t vouch this for myself). Were their votes for Nikki blocked by certain parties? Hmmm.. will the conspiracies never end? God knows we have this same kind of … emm.. ‘problem’ (if you want to call it that).. when Nurul was voted out in Akademi Fantasia. Hmm.. 8tv and Fremantle’s got a whole lot of explaining to do to the upset fans out there.

Anyway, next week. OH BOY!!! They will either totally murder the whole thing, or they will make it a very memorable night. I think it will be the kiss of death for Andrew. Vick might fare well, along with Jac and Dina. Saiful will probably shine. It’s a shame Zamil has left us last week. He would so kick the other contestants’ asses for next week’s theme : Songs by the Legendary Tan Sri P. Ramlee. Can’t wait.

Injustice has been done! I read from the bluehyppo messageboard (http://messageboard.bluehyppo.com/viewtopic.php?t=5027) that all/most votes can’t get through today from 019/013, and I bet those are Nikki’s and Jac’s votes. As usual, I will send in few votes on Sunday for Jac, Dina and Nikki. But when I sent in my votes today(mostly for Nikki), I did not get the usual replies from MI!

We demand a recount to bring Nikki back! Else just scrap the entire Malaysian Idol farce and don’t even bother to bring it back next year! Hate injustice!

I do really think there’s a racist kind of vote in Malaysian Idol…and also there’s a semangat kenegerian votes…Malaysians didn’t vote for the best…mostly they vote who they like, their race, their state representative…that’s why we shouldn’t use this voting system coz Malaysians are not matured enough yet…

What I think is in every competition like this, there will always a conspiracy theory. Its a shame that Nikki been voted out. I have grown to like her. With no offense to other contestants, I think Nikki always give a solid performance ans she always shows improvement from week to week.

By the way, she is young at age. I’m sure she can go far provided there are some ppl willing to give her chance. Well Done Nikki. We will miss you.

Hai Izad, it’s me Y! been a while huh! :)

I haven’t seen the results show but when I found out that Nikki was eliminated I was disappointed. Strangely, I wasn’t as upset as I thought I would be, maybe because I think the whole MI presentation is just not appealing enough (especially since it’s first shwon live on 8tv then on tv3 as a repeat…a lot of the excitement is lost, for me anyway). Anyway Nikki was one of my favs, in fact I prefer her to Jac. So I do wish her all the best, she’s still young and has a lot of potential in her to go far!

Survivor 9 to look forward to! :)

    Hi y’all

Nice comments all around. :) I do agree to a certain extent that it’s been proven that this is more of a popularity contest than a talent show. It’s a shame really. But then again, popularity will also be a main factor when it comes to marketability.. so *sigh*… donno lah.

I was never a big fan of Nikki’s. I thought her real strong performance was her rendition of Against All Odds and Emotions (from the audition). However, I must say that she really grew on me and I was pretty disappointed to see her go. But as you guys have said, Nikki’s going to go far, with or without Malaysian Idol ;)

I won’t give any more comments on the voting ’scandal’ this week. Ahmad Izham has denied it was their doing (duh). Who knows, it might’ve been a legit technical glitch on 013 and 019’s part.

And I agree, Malaysian Idol still has a long way to go before it becomes as huge as Akademi Fantasia. A long long way. I wonder what it would be like if Azwan becomes the host? Then it really will be the battle of the divas (between Anil and Azwan.. SIAPA NO. 1?? Heh)

Is Survivor really gonna start this week? I feel a little faint. LOL

So Nikki’s out. Am I surprised? Not the least. Reason being Malaysians are sooo predictable. The Chinese would undoubtedly vote for you know who.. same goes to the Malays.. while Sabahans will definitely vote for their fellow Sabahans. But since MI isn’t shown live in Sabah.. so its only natural Rydee and Nikki aren’t in the final two. I know it’s individual rights to vote for whoever.. and i won’t complain when the contestant can actually hit the notes (correctly) be it Chinese, Malay, etc. But when it’s otherwise… and we’re counting on a karaoke singer (who can’t move or groove) to represent M’sia in the World Idol.. People, better think wisely before you vote. The world out there wouldn’t care what race the idol from M’sia is.
