My birthdate is the same as Simon Cowell's. What's your bloody excuse, eh?

I wasn’t exactly jumping with joy when I found out this would be 50s Week. But surprisingly enough, it wasn’t the genre that made this weeks performance suck so badly. If anything, it made me realize that most of them are just not really that good. It was nice to see Barry Manilow on the show again though (I kept chuckling when I remember how pissed he was when the make-up person didn’t know who he was last year. LOL)
Mandisa - I Don’t Hurt Anymore by Dinah Washington
Mandisa was simply amazing. There is nothing more to say, really. And I kinda dig people are starting to call her ManDiva (as opposed to Mantasia from AI3). A high 9.
Bucky Covington - Oh, Boy by Buddy Holly
So does anyone out there knows who Bucky’s key demographic is? Who are actually voting for this guy? And Simon has it spot on by saying it was a “So what?” performance, cause it really was. A 4.
Paris Bennett - Fever by Peggy Lee
I still hate this little pretentious twerp. But I have to give credit to her for pulling off a very nice rendition of the song. She does have a voice that is tailor made for these kinds of songs. But I’m guessing not everyone likes to tune in to Light & Easy. (unrated performance)
Chris Daughtry - I Walk The Line by Johnny Cash
On one hand, I lik the fact that he knows who he is. But on the other, I would love to see a variety in his performances. His voice really wasn’t that outstanding tonight. He’s got great looks, his creativity is top notch, but flexibity.. not so much. But he doesn’t hold a candle to JD Fortune (and that coming from a non-Fortune fan). A tad overrated in my opinion. And I am officially jumping off the Chris bandwagon. A 5.
Katharine McPhee - Come Rain or Come Shine by Billie Holliday
Personally, I think she’s the best female performer on American Idol ever. She is just too awesome for words. I love her. A perfect 10.
Taylor Hicks - Not Fade Away by Buddy Holly
I actually like Taylor’s voice, but his vocals were rather weak tonight, and as an exception to the rest of the miserable performances tonight, I think it was mostly due to this bad song choice. His pose at the end was beyond retarded by the way, almost on par as Anwar’s vogueing last year. A 5.
Lisa Tucker - Why Do Fools Fall In Love? by Frankie Lymon
She’s good, but when she sings.. I can’t help but feel something is lacking. And with the new hairdo, I am convinced she will, most definitely, suffer Nadia’s fate. Only difference is, I probably would care less this time around. Wow… and to think I gave her a 20 a few weeks ago. A 5.5
Kevin Covais - When I Fall In Love by Nat King Cole
He was totally singing out of tune and has gotten way too comfortable to my liking. To tell you the truth, his performance was kinda horrid tonight. A 3.5.
Elliot Yamin - Teach Me Tonight by The DeCastro Sisters
Not his best vocals tonight, but definitely his best look tonight. I really can not complain about his vocals. I love him. An 8.
Kellie Pickler - Walkin’ After Midnight by Patsy Cline
How many layers of make-up does she have on? Can she look more like trailer trash? And I don’t care what people say, but she HAS to be the most (authentic) mind-numbingly stupid contestant to ever grace the show. However, the song went really well with her voice. So, bravo for this week, you idiotic minx. A 7.
Ace Young - In The Still of the Night by The Five Satins
What in holy motherfucking depths of hell was that? Fuck you. Fuck you Ace Young. Fuck you and your out-of-tune voice. Fuck you and your absurdly distinct rosy cheeks. Fuck you and your 8-year-olds fanbase. Fuck your falsettos. And fuck you for making me wish Constantine was in your fucking place instead. A -250.
Top Three Performances : Katharine (the next American Idol), Mandisa, Elliot
Bottom Three Performances : Acehole, Kevin, Bucky
Boot wish : Acehole
Probable boot : Bucky
Golden nugget of the night : “Paula, Paula, Paula. You’re talking rubbish” ~ Simon Cowell, although that’s like saying the sky is blue or something. However, it was rather priceless seeing people in the audience actually clapping their hands when Cowell said that.
Oh and here’s an interesting read on this year’s Vote For The Worst campaign - Idol Haters Love Kevin. Well, if anything I’m pretty sure they’ve got it wrong by picking Chicken Little instead of Rosy Cheeks.
