Amazing Race Asia - Episode 6

by @ 11:24 am. Filed under Amazing Race

Before I go on to The Amazing Race Asia, a recap on The Amazing Race 10 finale. So the drug addicts won, ho-hum. Like we haven’t seen twenty thousand alpha-male mactor teams win before. They’re good racers I’ll give them that, but it was kinda expected. Rob and Kim, I don’t know how the hell they got this far into the game. They’re just lucky. Bama.. well what can I say? At least they’ll go down in TAR history to be the first all female team in the Final 3. I thought the final leg sucked ass cause Bama’s game totally ended when they missed the last flight. Even if they made it, the two mile race on foot would probably put a nail on their coffin. But, well, it is a race after all. Anyway, so long TAR10. and LOOK OUT FOR THE AMAZING RACE ALL STARS!!!! Generally All Stars editions are usually crap, but I will most definitely write reviews for the TAR All Star episodes. I can’t wait till February.

Anyway, last night’s episode of The Amazing Race Asia was quite lacklustre compared to last week’s, but still better than the first four episodes. Off they go to New Zealand, first in Auckland then Dunedin and finally Queenstown. There were quite a lot of equalizers on this leg, at the airport, at the muddy race track thingy. The racers should be thankful for these equalizers (well, for the trailing teams, at least) but yet, we still see some teams strolling around, taking their own sweet time walking here and there. Hmmm.. Anyway, the challenges.. the bungee jump, HOLY SHIT WOW! That looks like so much fun! OMG I am so jealous of these racers. Seriously, that was increfuckingdible. Hopefully I’ll get to do one of those before I die.

In the order of their arrival at the pitstop :

1. Sandy & Francesca

I am really warming up to this team. They play hard and they play fair. And Sandy actually has an ability to produce speech? I thought he was only capable of displaying that cheesy grin 24×7. I actually do hope they will be one of the Final Three teams. They are fierce competitiors.

2. Andy & Laura

Behold our villains. I’m slightly put off by them this week. I know I’ve always ’supported’ villains in shows like these, but.. I dunno. There’s something that’s off putting about them. I think like Francesca commented ‘they’re playing this too damn hard (in an evil Boston Rob-ish kinda way), when there’s no reason to’ and I know I’m going back on my words, but I kinda agree with that. The penalty that was imposed on them for going above the speed limit was weird. An extra 2 minutes for every kilometers that were over the limit (46 km = 92 minutes) BUT it’s imposed at the beginning of the next leg? Hardly seems fair to me. If that was the case, I know if I reach the Final 3, I might just speed up to 300 km/h. The whole penalty thing didn’t sit well with me. They should’ve been penalised during this leg, and not the next. That’s a fucking weird rule.

3. Joe Jer & Zabrina

Yay to them for making it to the Top 3 in this leg! I was so excited when they were the first team to get to their car in Auckland. Then somehow they dropped to fifth place.. then back up again to 2nd place! Talk about making a comeback. If they hadn’t done the luge detour and did the ledge detour, they would’ve been the first team to arrive at the pitstop! But third place is definitely not bad, and they’ll be the 2nd team to leave in the next leg. You go girls! “I’m 61 kg” ~ Joe Jer. “What the hell have you been eating?” ~ Zabrina. LOL I can’t even remember the last time I was 61kg.. musta been at least a decade ago. If this team don’t end up in the Final Three at least, I will be extremely devastated.

4. Andrew & Syeon

Reminds me of Yul from Survivor Cook Islands. Great player, but ultimately boring. But should that matter? Absolutely not, it’s a race and they’re pretty good at it, so kudos to them. Although I have to laugh at the Malay subtitles “Andrew & Syeon - Berpacaran”.

5. Marsio & Mardy

Can they be less enthusiatic when opening and reading their clue? Well, whatever we want to say about the M&Ms we have to hand it to them for still being in the race. Not only that, I think there were several times that they got in 1st or 2nd place at the cluebox/leading the pack on the road bla bla bla. I’m still a little impressed that they made it this far.

6. Howard & Sahran

omigod i cant do this.. no way in hell im going to do this.. i have no capabilities of growing a pair of balls.. GOD!!!!! Seriously, they pick this idiotic queen out of a thousand applicants? They have GOT to be kidding me. Were they even considering taking yet another 4 hour penalty this time? Well if they did, I won’t be surprised at all. I mean, for fucks sake, and I have said this every week.. but seriously, if you’re going to forsake every single goddamn challenge, why the hell did you apply for this show. Argh. Bitch.

7. Melody & Sharon

Sad to say, the wrong team got eliminated this week. Sahran could’ve take a pointed or too from Melody (or was it Sharon) who actually did the bungee jump. I salute her for facing her fears and take that plunge into the ravine. Wow. Respekk bebbb. They could’ve been strong contenders in this race, but they finished last in back to back pitstops, so it’s bye bye Melody & Sharon. At least they left this show on a high note, insteaf of the bitter morons from last week.

sigh i was so rooting for rob and kim to win. dono why lah, maybe the model boys had it too easy for them :P plus rob n kim did face a lot of unlucky situations, they were the only one who had so much car problems, yet still manage to remain in the race.

all stars? not gonna hold my breath for it

  2. cely Says:

my favourite team would be Jor jer and zabrina.. they are lovely and competitive.. I had the same feeling that they chose the wrong detour.
Go girls. U have my support!

why are the chickens still in the race… !!!!! i wanna cry for melody when she jump and scream out of her lung…

btw, i strongly disagree with laura and andy which they keep saying they were unlucky for the speed summon… hello, everyone is patuhi the undang and drive within the limit… u speed and u blame the luck.. duh… i lost my interest in them…

  3. Gallivanter Says:

Screw Laura & Andy, I’m supporting Asians! As for Amazing Race 10, it was by far THE most boring of the races.

  4. infofreako Says:

ARA should pick teams with more character for the next season. the people on this season are so boring, watching my toenail grow is more interesting!

  5. y Says:

imo the teams are fine, it’s the block of wood they put on the pitstop mat i don’t like. when he told andy they’d been penalised, he was as human as a toolbox.

anyway, missed last week’s but so far so good. as for tar 10, worst finale EVER! nothing interesting at all.

  6. Romeo Says:

The promo on Astro of Zabrina, Andrew and Syeon was nice. But where the hell is Joe Jer? Dont you think that by having this promo, AT LEAST or not BOTH of the Malaysian team go far in the race? Come on, you want to air the promo as long as you can, to promote the show rite? So this would be a good sign! YAY!

This episode was good. I enjoyed it, especially the swing and bungee! Hell, I want to do that too.
No doubt! Too bad for Sharon and Melody. Poor them! So next episode back to Asian country. Thailand that is. Would it be advantage for Andy & Laura? Do you think they speak Thai? The promo didnt show that they were having provlems with the taxis. Hmmm.. Cant wait for next episode!

TAR10 finale was BORING! But TAR All-Star is coming! Yay, Im so excited for that!

Suanie : aiyoo.. don’t la give up on TAR All Stars yet.. i think it’s going to be good ;) give it a chance.. hehe

Cely : ya lor.. i also found it funny when Andy was lecturing Laura on he driving after HE was being told not to drive. Hahaha..

Gallivanter : Yeah go Asians baby! It IS Amazing Race Asia after all right?

Freako : Yeah some of them are boring *cough*AndrewSyeon*cough* but I think some of them are still worth watching. ;)

Y : Alamak Y.. you musn’t miss the TAR Asia marathon la this coming weekend. I think Episode 5 was one of the best episodes so far. And have you totally stopped blogging? :(

Romeo : Funny that you mention it, I just came across the promo a few days ago. Someone said that JoeJer wasn’t around during the premiere or something (when they shot the promo) and that’s why she’s not in it. And I can understand why you are so excited about TAR All Star *not-so-subtle-wink*
