Culturally Preconditioned

So.. The Amazing Race Asia finale is here.. tonight! I guess I should write this up, cause I usually have post-Finale syndrome where I’d usualy won’t even bother to comment on the outcome of a show (ie. Survivor, American Idol, One In a Million etc). Usually it’s because (1) the show is over (2) the winner is too lame to be flamed (3) I just don’t give a flying fuck anymore. In any case, no matter who wins this show tonight, I would have to say this is possibly one of the best TAR seasons ever (including the regular ones!). I didn’t think it would’ve surpassed my expectations but it did (nevermind the best team got voted out 5th place).

In any case, I found this interesting statistical blog on who the possibly winner might be. LOL It’s interesting, to say the least. Anyway, personally for me, it’s down to the good ole Brain, Heart, and Guts.

Brains (who I THINK would win) : Sandy & Francesca. If they even have half the luck of the other teams, they should pull off an easy win. They’ve got the brains, the brawns.. and that annoying cheeky smile. They’re competent racers, they provide good drama, and I don’t even mind them winning even though technically they’re not really Asian.

Heart (who I WANT to win) : Joe Jer & Zabrina. Major duh. It’s not everyday we get an all female team in the Final Three. Hell, it took the regular Amazing Race ten seasons to end up with the Bamas in the final three. And to top it off, Joe Jer & Zab are the sweethearts and the ultimate underdog that so many viewers are rooting for. I’ve said this before and I’m gonna say it again. I have never before seen so much fan support (other than BB6’s Janelle *heart*) for a single team. If they win this, it will be the best ending I could possibly imagine.

Guts (deep down in the very pit of my paunch stomach, who my guts say is going to win) : Andrew & Syeon. If it wasn’t because of Andrew’s comment about his dream in the last episode (about guessing the right gondola number and winning the race), I probably would’ve thought differently. And it seemed that there’s a sudden surge of people giving them ’support’ this week. Makes me wonder if these people know something that I don’t. Hmmmm. Even though incredibly dull and boring, they’ve proven to be great racers, I’ll give them that, and I would be happy with a Malaysian team winning this race.

In any case, I think we’re in for a good show tonight. They’re having a meet the fans cum live finale viewing party at the Aloha Bar in Jln P Ramlee around 7 pm tonight. It was mentioned that all the amazing race teams will be there, but as of today I heard there were only going to be 5 of the 10 teams. Anyway, it’s by invitation only, I think.. but Romeo’s promised me some pictures and scoops as he’ll be going over today. Have fun, ya wanker!

And that’s it on the amazing race. I might write a recap after the show is over. We’ll see.

Oooh, and I’ve just recently gone photoblogging crazy, so taking a page out of Saharil’s Conteng book, I’m going to give this experiment a go. A picture a day, and we’ll see if that crashes blogger’s server away. Though I might warn you that you might be looking pictures at my clipped toenails or my cat’s furballs (I’ve already given you a Fat Bitch alert so you have been warned).
