Project Runway Malaysia and other reality news updates

by @ 1:31 pm. Filed under General

Good news to local reality fans. After the many many trash wannabe ‘lets do it the Malaysian way’ reality junks that’s been spewed be certain local tv stations (you know who you are).. we’re finally (hopefully) getting a good one soon. We had Malaysian Idol, we had Malaysian Fear Factor, we had the Amazing Race Asia.. so what if we are copycats? If it works, it works.. don’t force crappy Malaysia Boleh reality shows when the premise of your show suck (Akademi Fantasia is an exception - but remember, that too was adopted from a foreign reality show). How blasphemous! (especially coming into the Merdeka month).. but if it’s shit.. I’m gonna call it shit like it is. There’s no need to cover shit when it is shit. It’s shit.

Shit.

LOL. Anyway, since there’s no way in fucking hell Survivor or Big Brother will be adopted into our ’society’ (please lah… they even have Big Brother Arabia, for fucks sake)… I guess I should be just as excited that yet another Emmy nominated reality show has been adopted here. Yes, I’m talking about Project Runway. And I’ve heard the news ages ago.. but I can’t believe it’s actually going to premiere tomorrow Friday night, August 3rd on ntv7 8tv at 9:30pm. I’m NOT a fashion conscious person at all (everyone I know will attest to that), but this might just be the thing to end my boycott of ntv7 for rudely stopping Survivor midway through Survivor Vanuatu (burn in hell, motherfuckers!) - yeah I’m still boycotting that shitty tv station.. ooh but I do tune in to Deal or No Deal though :( .

Project Runway Malaysia (press release)

I hope the show will prove as good in quality as the original American counterparts (in terms of editing, and the quality of ideas that will bring brought forth by the contestants). I don’t really follow the American version all that much (like I said, I’m not fashion savvy at all) but I have high hopes, and have a gut feeling that this show will succeed.

In other news… I’m glad Pirate Masters has been picked up by Astro (albeit a couple of weeks late), but just so you know, the show has been taken off the air by CBS in America. Taken off the air midway through. Yet another thing that makes you go omgwtf? Apparently, the remaining episodes will only be shown via web episodes on the internet. How fucked up is that? I wonder if Astro will show the entire season in its entirety. I also wonder if Cheryl’s suicide have anything to do with it. Yes, boys and girls, Cheryl (the tough District Attorney, possibly the strongest willed person on that crew) committed suicide. I’m just shocked.

I’m also really really hooked on Big Brother US (season 8 ). It is a far cry from Big Brother 6 - the best reality show series in the history of television ever, but it’s pretty good. There’s not a single character that I like aside from Jen - the girl who literally cried a river over a ‘bad’ photo. LMAO. She was the person I hated most in the first episode, but right now, she’s the only person in the house that I like.. no make that LOVE. JEN LOVE! <3 She is the strongest willed person I’ve seen on television in a long long time. And I admire that so much.

Hell’s Kitchen is coming to an end (Season 3). I am fuming at who the Final 2 are. It will be the worst finale ever. And also it made me realize that even the failed contestants from Top Chef? They have absolutely lived the dreams of any ‘champion’s from Hell’s Kitchen. Hell’s Kitchen chefs are only fit to flip burgers, compared to the contestants on Top Chef. I’m surprised this Emmy nominated show (Top Chef) hasn’t reached our shores yet, cause it should, seeing the eleventy billion local floggers (food bloggers) churn out entries on fine dining day in and day out. Some may think that fine dining is pretentious food (I admit to it, sometimes), but it is an excellent show nonetheless, which I have no doubt will be super popular among Malaysians right now.

And that’s all I got for now. Toodles.

  4. Izad Says:

interesting, mlm ni tgk best tak best. tapi sah bnyk adverts so will prolly just record it and watch later tanpa gangguan iklan basik.

  6. Izad Says:

my verdict… not bad lah.. but a little weird with the Bahasa/English medium (this worked in Malaysian Idol, btw). Dunno if I’ll be watching it again, since I’ve never really been into Project Runway before.. but it looks okay so far. Oh and yeah, you can clearly see Zabrina Fernandez listed as one of the producers in the end credits.

AAaaaaaah, missed it, missed it. Details, details, since it won’t be on the torrents. How was it? Who are the judges? Are the designs crappy? Who’s the Heidi Klum? Details, details.

    PS: I’m keeping a BB blog, if anyone’s interested…

  8. Izad Says:

MrsG! I thought you stopped doing tv recaps… heading there right now!

Mmmm details.. wasn’t paying too much attention.. the Heidi Klum was Bernie Chan. The Tim Gunn was Peter Lum. Judges this week… Bernard Chandren, a lady from some organization.. and an editor from EH magazine (who commented on one of the skimpy dresses.. “I will buy it, and I will wear it”.. and evil me quickly retorted “No you won’t. Yo fat” - even though she’s really not and I am at least 200 pounds heavier than her). The dresses… general impression : all the designs were too.. how do you say.. ‘out there’.. and everyone was trying a bit too much to be ‘different’, although I’m glad the person who won this week’s challenge, won. And there’s already some scathing remarks among the contestants. LOL.

I don’t know if there will be reruns.. but if it’s anything like Malaysian Idol, the show might be repeated over the weekend on TV3 (not quite sure though).

What am I doing up this late? Keeping up with the BB Live Feeds of course. Hahaha.. this is definitely the season for HATE cause I find almost all of the contestants despicable.

I’m tired of this so called Malaysian reality shows. What’s next? Chef competition? Whoaa that will be exciting isn’t it? A lot of action. The Japanese and American have done it. I’m not surprised if someone do it in Malaysia.

  11. Izad Says:

Sara.. I’m not sure if there will be repeats. If not, just tune in to next week’s episode on Friday. I don’t think there’s much going on in the 1st episode anyway.

Syaf.. ooo I actually would LOVE it if they do a local version of Top Chef. What’s with the dining trend in Malaysia going more and more upscale (and sometime pretentious) nowadays, I think this might be one show that could have a positive impact on the dining trends in Malaysia, especially if you enjoy cooking and/or dining in general. And believe me, it’s entirely possible, what’s with our cooking resources and influences, ours could easily surpass the standards of the original Top Chef (also Top Chef = not to be confused with Iron Chef). :)

  12. y Says:

I was quite disappointed with PRM actually. i wasn’t expecting much but honestly it was a very poor first episode. it felt like a dying series in its twilight season instead of a debut episode!

and bernie chan is no eye candy. if you’re no eye candy at least have an interesting personality.
