Culturally Preconditioned

Okay, so I made my peace with the TARA2 casting assholes for picking 100% mactors and as Michale McKay (the exec producer) had so eloquently put it, they’ve been picked because he thinks that, to directly quote him, “it helps (that the contestants are ‘well known’) if people (aka the viewers) know and can identify the contestants”. Man, what an idjit. What does he take me for? A hormonally charged pimple-faced teenager??? He’s got this viewer SO wrong (I’m a hormonally charged pimple-faced thirty one year old, thank you). Aaaanyway.. enough sour grapes on my part. I’m going to make sure I’ll enjoy TAR Asia 2 nonetheless, because Mactors deserve to have fun as much as ‘regular folks’ do if they’re fans of the show too.. so have at it. But if they want to get on the show just to get their fuckiing fifteen minutes’ worth of fame, then they can go lick my cat’s neutered and empty ball sac.

And one of the better surprises I’ve had this year. Originally, The Amazing Race 12 (the US version) was scheduled to be aired in January/February.. leaving TAR Asia 2 to be the ‘filler’ program this November.. but mother of all surprises, CBS decides to release the show in November 4th!! That’s two weeks from now, people! YAY! Looks like TAR Asia 2 will have some company on AXN (yes, AXN will be showing both show, thankfully, with TAR 12 showing on November 5th - mark those calendars!).

Here’s a short preview. I am already loving the Goth Couple and the Lesbian Ministers!!!!

This marks the fourth year that I won’t be celebrating Aidilfitri in my hometown of Johor Bahru. (1996-1999 was spent in the UK) and this will be my first Raya celebration in Kuala Lumpur. I’m curious to see if the roads are really as empty as they claim. My parents are coming up to KL for the celebration.. so I’m not really missing anything much (aside from the Balik Kampung traffic jams.. Ha Ha to the lot of you!). Anyway, I’m kinda excited to see how the next two days is going to shape up.. I’m not even sure what we’re gonna have for the Eid makan makan tomorrow, since I’ll be stuck here in the office till 11pm later, so I’m just going to post the Sambal Goreng that I made last year for Hari Raya.. ini pure Jawa punya makanan ni.. slurp slurp… nasib baik dah buka posa…

Anyway.. to the lot of you going back for the holidays.. have a safe journey. I just heard a radio ‘advert’ saying that this Balik Kampung season, one true fact that will stand is not everyone will make it alive. Even though that sounds exagerrated and over the top scary, it IS true. So stay safe, don’t sms and drive. Kalau ngantuk, tidor kejap. Pada yang masih ada mak bapak.. jangan lupa mintak maaf banyak2 kat diorang. And pada yang ada binatang-binatang peliharaan, make sure they are well accounted for during this festive season. Nak raya, raya jugak… kucing2 tu make sure ada orang jaga.
