The Amazing Race Asia 2 - Episode 7

by @ 11:23 pm. Filed under Amazing Race, Rants

Happy New Year, everyone! I’m still in mourning over the Goths’ elimination on The Amazing Race 12. Actually, I missed the show on New Year’s eve.. but some asshole over on the AXN forum had read the play-by-play and posted “THE GOTHS ARE ELIMINATED” as a thread title in the forum in the afternoon, even though the episode hasn’t aired yet in the US. And the mods there didn’t do shit about it. They did however warned posters to go easy on Terri and Henry over at that board. What retards (the board admins). I’m so glad we have the dictator Idoit Admins over at the Sucks forum. They are ruthless, but they get their jobs done. I don’t know, is it just me, or does local message boards suck ass? I mean the level of idiocy in the posts is one thing (case in point, Malaysian Idol forum, One in A Million forum, Akademi Fantatsia forum, Cari forum etc), the level of adminship too is pretty appalling. They could learn a thing or two from ‘proper message boards’ like Sucks or even TWoP (for the love of Mirna, please don’t quote me on that). I mean, there is a ginormous mentality gap between these boards. Sarcasm, for one thing, is certainly lost on them. The ability to poke fun and laugh at themselves is even more impossible to find than tubgirl’s G-spot. Hang on.. where the fuck am I going with this? Oh yeah, the amazing race asia.

Teams set off from Busan, Korea where they had to drive themselves to Anseong-Si City. I think this may be the first time teams are shown having great difficulty driving on the other side of the road. I know I probably would’ve had a tough time too. They had to drive themselves to Seoil Farm where there’s a Roadblock - to search for their clue underneath 1,500 soybean tempayans. There was also a bonus clue where one lucky team would get a $50 bonus from Standard Chartered. Aisehmen.. kalau nak letak product placement pun, letak la $500 ke. $1000 ke.. ciput nak mampos. Anyway I don’t really see a point announcing this bonus, since in TARA2, they never disclosed how many moolahs each team gets at the beginning of the leg (unlike the original TAR).

Once done, they had to drive to Woncheon Resoirt in Suwon where they had to paddle a duckie float to get to their next clue. It may be tiring for the racers, but it sure was mind numbingly boring to watch for the viewers. They next had to drive themselves to the Korean Folk Village where they are faced with a detour between (1) Too Ho - where teams had to toss 3 bamboo sticks into a container from 4.5 meters away, or (2) Too Heavy - where teams had to deliver 30 logs using a Korean Jingei.. or was it Jigei? Upon completing the detour, teams had to drive themselves to the next pitstop at the Olympic Park in Korea. In the order of their arrival at the pitstop :

  1. Marc & Roviltwat - I still find their little quips revolting but surprisingly they are not as annoying this week. Perhaps the editors are toning them down, to soften the blow when they win yet another leg next?? If that happens, then just fuck me. Fuck me raw with a serrated knife, now.
  2. Adrian & Colin - Yay! These guys almost kicked M&R’s asses. They did really well during this leg of the race, only to lose their placements a couple of times due to bad directions/driving. Please guys, at this rate, you are my only hope to put those two idjits above you in their proper place.
  3. Pam & Vanessa - Loving the Chong sisters still (despite finding out one of them is probably dating Roviltwat). Notice how they always elongate the final syllable of the final word in their sentences when they’re frustrated? LOL so damn Malaysian oooooooone.(Personally I loved it when one of them said DAMN LAHH). I would take this accent over exagerrated non-Asian dialects that we’re getting on this show (yeah you know who they are). But what the fuck was up with the blaming game? Just stop it already.. stop harping on the fact that you lost your lead. Fortunately their head was still in the game. I was overjoyed when they actually gained back their 3rd placing after fucking up badly with their driving.
  4. Ann & Diane - I’m starting to get why certain teams are annoyed with this team. The way that they just brushed off Paula & Natasha when they bumped into each other was simply ugly. I mean, what the hell was up with the cold shoulder? I mean, I get this is a race, and every team for themselves yada yada yada.. but would a simple “hello” or “whats up” hurt?? Diane has posted at Sucks (if that is really her), explaining that they were too focused on the race, but come on! Urgh! I’m disappointed, but at least they managed to improve their placement this week. I always think the way to approach this race is to be friends with everyone. And, you know, backstab them when it really matters. LOL
  5. Paula & Natasha - I love the fact that these two were able to laugh at themselves over the whole ‘2 seconds too late to realize that the float was still tied to the dock’ incident. They seem to be enjoying themselves. Reminds me of Aubrey and Jacq from TARA1. Only more competent. (I have to stop reminding myself that they are Team Thailand.. cause that will only make me weep for reminding me of Andy & Laura - future runner-up winners of TARA All Star)
  6. Terri & Henry - I’m too fucking tired to rant over this lost case. She STILL doesn’t seem to get it, even after Henry’s tearful confessional (which was totally wasted on her). I mean, I like sassy women. In small doses. I like when women give some of their attitude. In small doses. She does remind me of Foxxy Love from Drawn Together (best character ever). In small doses. But this is just all too much. Blame Henry for being wimpy. Blame Terri having too much balls. Blame the editors for making them look bad. Whatever. I’m just glad I don’t know anyone like her in my real life. Like I said, she stopped being entertaining around Episode 2. Whether she’s still on the race or not, like the expressions on her face when Alan mentioned it was a non-elimination leg, I simply do.not.give.a.flying.fuck.anymore.

the bonus prize was seriously laughable. 50 fucking dollars??? the producer must’ve spent some major dough casting mactors, they were too afraid to ask for more money from their sponsors.

btw. manus & rovagina are never not annoying, man.

  2. Mrs Giggles Says:

In the final confessional, Terri revealed that she had some deep-seated emotional issues that really should be addressed by some professional. I remembered reading a post about how Terri actually found sex partners for Henry - was that on Sucks? That sounded terrible, and I’m still not inclined to believe that, but that Terri who lacked self-esteem to the point that she degrades herself as a result seem like the one that emerged in that confessional.

But what am I doing? I hate psychoanalyzing people who clearly have issues from my place in front of the TV, but Terri is really making it hard for me to not to yell at the TV, “Go see a shrink, woman! You need psychiatric help!”

i’ll be happy for the any of the remaining teams to win except Marc and Rovilson, even terri and Henry (urgh) at least the rest are real people to me. Marc and Rovilson seem to be like 2 tv show host being paid to do a travelogue…

  4. zhmi Says:

I like this episode for there was at least some semblance of a race for the top spot. Hopefully Colin & Adrian can continue to give M&R a run for their money. And I also like the fact that–in spite of their kalutness–Pam & Van managed to regroup. As for Diane, let’s just say she shouldn’t have snubbed Team Thailand. That’s not a hallmark of a good sport; plus, why create unnecessary animosity, right?

Dunno why but I still have a soft spot for Terri. But I must admit I’m getting increasingly exasperated with her brusqueness. Mrs. G’s so right–Terri does have some deep-seated emo issues. Wonder if she’s subconsciously asking for sympathy and/or acceptance. If so, maybe Terri should’ve just gone on Oprah instead. Anyway, I’m gonna see how she behaves in Episode 8. If she doesn’t change–chances are she won’t–then I too will no longer give a rat’s ass whether or not she and Henry stay on the race.

  5. Latique Says:

Pam & Van - I’m still all into ‘em, I just hope they stop blaming each other over this and that… but I guess thats norm for sisters.
Paula & Natasha - I like how positive this team in everything they are doing, they are simply having lots of fun. I guess thats part of what this race is all about. If one keeps thinking about winning and not having fun, it is no fun no more.
Terri & Henry - can’t wait for them to be out. But they are in this race for a reason. It is enjoyable in a way to watch such reality shows.
Marc & Rovi - it is too easy I guess for them to keep coming first. They need more challenging tasks, maybe like sewing or something haha.
Diane & Ann - like what Paula & Natasha said… Karma will get you back. I just dislike what they did to the Jap team.

  6. mush Says:

terri is damn lah!! very irritating…tau jerit jer…
maybe i will crying like henry when i standing beside her….

aku rasa director mcm ade konspirasi nak bagi marc & rovi menang

  7. Dan Says:

What happened to TARA? It used to be so fun without the mactorwhores. I loved Season 1, but this season isn’t doing anything for me.

At least I have a great laugh reading the Roviltwat and Marcunt hate thread on Sucks. Tis fantastic.

  8. Izad Says:

Freako : It would’ve been something if they had announced.. say “Teams has $100 for this leg of the race” at the beginning of the leg. Pathetic, huh?

MrsG : Yeah that weird post about Terri saying she’s providing those stuff from Henry was posted at Sucks (taken from the AXN Asia forum), and Terri surprisingly didn’t deny that she said it. Weird. Anyway, I’m so glad we finally managed to drag you down to hell (also known as Sucks) with us. LOL

Eksk : Same here. I’ll be fine with any other teams besides Marc/Roviltwat winning the race. Especially Terri and Henry cause they probably need the money most for psychiatric bills later.

zhmi : There certainly were moments that I enjoyed in this race - particularly the possibility of Colin and Adrian coming into 1st place at the pitstop!

Latique : Yeah I’m finally warming up to Paula & Natasha.. they are like a slightly more competent Jac and Aubrey from the first race (I was kinda disappointed they left a little to early last year - would’ve taken them over Andrew & Syeon any day)

    mush : Ditto!

Dan : The first half of this season, I honestly thought the casting folks made good decisions in spite of the mactorfest. Even watching Terri in Episode 1 was fun. And the dynamics between Aurelia and Sophie was incredible. Sadly, everything is currently going down the drain with the dominance of the most annoying camerawhores ever. It’s kind of ironic since even the producers mentioned that their audition video was the most scripted thing ever. Well you reap what you sow, I guess.

  9. Mrs Giggles Says:

I don’t know about Sucks, izad. Some of the posters there are so over-the-top in their hate, I kinda worry about them. Do they even enjoy watching the show? They seem to hate EVERY thing and take things so personally when their favorite team doesn’t win. They scare me, they do.

  10. Izad Says:

LOL One thing I noticed about Sucks is they are the most forgiving fans too (read : kiss ass). Once an actual racer/survivor posts there, they are all over them.. hahaha. You haven’t been there during a BB season, have you? It can get really, reaaaaally scary! (the new season starts next month!)

  11. synical Says:

Kesian Henry. For their sake, I hope they get eliminated.

And yeah, USD50 is such a joke.

Ann and Diane misunderstanding the Roadblock and Diane and her arms half-covered in the beans was also pretty hilarious. :D
