The Amazing Race Asia 2 - Episode 9

by @ 10:55 pm. Filed under Amazing Race

Before I start ranting, I just gotta say.. the new JJ Abrams movie Cloverfield kicks ass. I don’t care what the holier-than-thou critics say (they’re just trying to be different, I know.. I’ve been in those shoes), I personally think it’s a great movie. I don’t, however, think that it is the BEST.MOVIE.EVER like some people claim (Sorry, Joe.. you know I still love ya.. LOL). But it is easily one of the better flicks I’ve seen for the past couple of months, and won’t be surprised if it ends up in my final Top 10 Movies 2008 (oh shit.. I’ve yet to come up with my 2007 list yet). JJ Abrams is the shiznits. From Felicity to Alias to Lost and now to this.. he is da man! oh speaking in which, I’ll be indulging in my Lost 3 DVDs in a few days.. to prepare myself for the 4th season - which is scheduled to start at the end of this month.

(ps. notice the “Jacob Loves You” scribbling on the DVD cover? that cweepy note just makes me shudder. If you’ve seen the season, you’ll know what I mean)

Okay, back to The Not So Amazing Race Asia 2. You know people usually skip the early part of the show, and just catch the final 10 minutes to know who gets in what place and who gets eliminated? Well, an advice to everyone watching for the rest of this season. You should actually skip the final 10 minutes and watch the early part of the show. That is only because the placings does not change yet once again, ladies and gentlemen. I really do hope Mr Marc Nelson and Mr Rovilson Fernandez will continue getting 1st place in all legs, and winning this race!!!!111!! Zero suspense, zero competition, zero excitement. And the producers only have themselves to blame for this. Bravo.

In this episode, teams started off from their last pitstop (I can’t for the life of me remember where the fuck it was, because I was pissed the pole dancing thingy was included in the brilliant recap). Teams had to travel to Prague using the trains. Surprisingly teams weren’t bunched up on the train ride (3 separate trains). Once there, they need to climb up the Observatory Tower in Petrin Hill and count the number of steps to get their next clue. All teams did well except for Paula & Natasha which made them fall to 5th place.

Next they had to get a clue on Strelecky Island (OMG OMG OMG!!!) , get into a rowboat and navigate their way to the next clue using a compass. The next clue directs them to Prague Castle where there’s an Intersection. For Intersections, teams had to pair up with another team to complete their tasks. Adrian & Colin teamed up with Marc & Roviltwat. Ann and Diane teamed up with Pam & Vanessa. Poor Natasha and Paula, who were so adamant about screwing the moms, got the short end of the stick and had to wait 5 hours for the trailing team, Terri & Henry to arrive.

Teams needed to go to the Ice Hockey Arena and shoot 12 goals. Once that’s done, a detour between (1) Snap - where they had to find 3 historical monuments and take pictures using Sony Cybershot cameras, or (2) Roll - where they had to roll two generic-brand (not Sony, Standard Chartered, Caltex, Chevrolet or Bintan Lagoon Resort) beer kegs to some destination. Once the task is over, they are released from their Intersection and are allowed to continue their race individually (ie not paired up with the other team).

The next task is to perform a 10 meter pool dive. *yawnsies* although it did look painful when Vanessa and Paula did it (they both bled, somewhat). And holy shit, Vanessa seemed to have a temporary memory loss. Hang on, did I say temporary? Hmm it would’ve made more sense if she’s still having it, if the stories about her dating Roviltwat is true. But oh well. But in all seriousness.. that was something scary. If my team mate were to start rambling like that, I probably would’ve (1) bitchslapped some sense into her, or (2) freak the fuck out myself. Most likely, it will be the latter. Thank goodness she got over that though. Urgh enough of this shit.. pitstop.. order of their arrival :

  1. Marc & Roviltwat - yay! first place again!!! ASIAN PRIDE!!! OHMIGOD BEST TEAM EVERRERRRRRRRSS!!!#!@#1`
  2. Adrian & Colin - YAY! 2nd place again.. i wish they’d gotten 1stplace but who am i kidding.. Twat and Turd is unbeatable!!!
  3. Ann & Diane - yay!! 3rd place again… i wish they’d gotten 2nd place but who am i kidding.. we all know you’re getting screwed by the editors for your downfall soon (probably won’t even make it to Final 3). Yay editors!
  4. Pam & Vanessa - yay! 4th place again.. i wish they’d gotten 3rd place but who am i kidding.. i mean really, who am i kidding? yay!
  5. Paula & Natasha - yay! 5th place again.. i wish they were eliminated instead but who am i kidding.. the producers are absolutely loving this static placement.. so we all must love it too! as long as there’s some kind of record say.. the same team getting 1st place 7 times in a row .. or wait for it… the same team getting last place three times in a row.
  6. Terri & Henry - yay! 6th place again… I must thank Terri for supplying me with some of her happy pills this week. OMGYAY! THIS IS THE MOST RIVETING SHOW ON TELEVISION EVER AND YOU ARE ALL BITTER CUNTS IF YOU STILL THINK THIS SHOW SUCKS BECAUSE MARC & ROVILSHIT (ASIAN PRIDE!!!!1!1!) IS GETTING FIRST PLACE AGAIN.. THEY ARE FUCKING UNBEATABLE OMFG YOU HATERS CAN ALL EAT SHIT AND DIE.. LOLZZZ I THINK IT’S SO FUNNY THAT YOU GUYS ARE HATING THIS SEASON.. BECAUSE IT’S THE BEST SEASON EVER!!

  1. Mrs Giggles Says:

    Hold it.

THIS IS NOT THE BEST SHOW EVER.

Because the world has been deprived of a close-up of Allan Wu in a pair of Speedo trunks.

    SO BITTER.

    VERY BITTER.

  2. Izad Says:

LOL… i don’t know if that was the effects of some Terri-heppy pills or if I was just channeling some blinded Asian Pride shared by some over enthusiastic TARA fans somewhere.. hmm.

But yeah.. I don’t know if I should thank you or spank you for making me like Allan a little more than I did last year.

  3. Mrs Giggles Says:

Ugh, I wish there is somewhere I can discuss this show. The Sucks board are full of kids screaming “WORST SEASON EVER!!! I HATE MACTORS!!!!” over each other. The TWoP people on the other hand scare me when they start calling Adrian and Collin “boyfriends”. These two are the least homoerotic couple ever whether they are really boyfriends or not, so it is ridiculous to assume that two guys on a team = automatically gay.

Hell, Rovilson and Marc seems like better candidates for gay fantasies of these people since those two seem to be very fond of getting pictured together shirtless and all. Not that I’m saying that they’re gay, but I find it odd that the TWoP people will ship Adrian and Collin of all the teams on the show.

What is with TAR fans on Sucks and their obsessive jihad on mactors anywhere? I suspect that many, like greenraven1, are just bitter that they aren’t picked to be on the show and blame their failure on preferences on mactors instead of their “real” selves. These people can’t go on and on like that without having a personal ax to grind, I feel.

  4. Izad Says:

Well.. you can try rhe AXN board *ducks*.. Or realityfanforum (I think Sophie still posts there).. and I have never been to TARflies or TWoP. Wow.. they are seriously calling the Singaporean boyfriends? Those people need to seriously sue someone for the major defects on their gaydars. I’m just comfortable at Sucks with their scary level of extremism there LOL.

I have to say though, personally, I wasn’t happy at ALL that they casted mactors for this season, cause I actually auditioned and felt that I at least deserved a callback for an interview at the very least. I have to admit, that WAS personal for me (on hating the mactors).. but I took that all back during the first two (or three) episodes of this season.

Personally I think some mactors are tolerable. Some mactors, like Aurelia and Sophie.. I have to say, are perfect casting choice. I guess they may have viewed M&R as the perfect cast (strong alpha male team with wicked funny WIT - ASIAN PRIDE! LOLgasm).. but they forgot to find other teams who can be considered as strong contenders to them, race-wise.

What sucks for me this season is (1) the static placements of each team every other episode (2) the obvious F3 placement and the eventual winners (3) the blatant favoritism shown by the editors (4) the camera mugging. It is just beyond sickening. I’ll try to enjoy the rest of the season.. but I’m afraid it is already ruined .. (might as well, since I love watching trainwrecks… case in point.. Big Brother 2007)

  5. y Says:

tara2 came and gone without me noticing it much. yeah, it’s gone by for me. tara1 personalities were so much more likeable. I like none of the teams on tara2 except perhaps the Japanese team. I wonder what the ratings for tara2 are like, viewership down? up? M&R aren’t that hateful though, it’s just their silly tacky talk, typical of radio DJs like our own morning crew. Sometimes you just feel the need to shove a shoe up their noses.

  6. Mrs Giggles Says:

Oh I agree. As I said on Sucks, it is ridiculous to cast two men who have done all kinds of physical fitness stuff and extreme sports before among other amateur contestants. It’s like pitting Michael Jordan against some Mat Rempit in a game of basketball.

I don’t mind mactors if they are cast well and are interesting. Hell, I’m a big fan of Rob Mariano and Jim Bozzini and these two are major famewhores. But Marc and Rovilson are killing the race with their dominance, I agree, and that is what makes the show suck. Not because they are mactors. They just happen to be mactors.

I think Michael McKay should stick to casting for MTV VJs or whatever the hell that guy is doing before he got on this show.

  7. Mrs Giggles Says:

PS: Marc Nelson isn’t even Filipino. Rovilson spends as much time in his American home as he does in the Philippines. How “Asian Pride” is that? Sigh.

  8. info freako Says:

i don’t have a personal vendetta against mactors, some mactors i loved, but i just hate it when people like mc-fucking-kay assumes that asians cannot appreciate a good show concept & had to resort to casting ‘attractive’ z-list celebrities to boost ratings. if i want to watch has beens or almost beens, i’d watch “A Surreal Life” or “I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here” instead.

  9. deric Says:

Henry & Terri is gone. yay. That makes it less painful to watch.

I wonder if anyone else noticed how one of the Chong sisters cupped her titties with her hands as she hurried by the pool. That’s the 2nd time she did it in TARA. Go Pam & Vanessa!! you and your assets are the only reason why I still watch TARA2.

Adrian & Colin overtook M&R at one point but slid back because they didn’t know how to row a freakin boat. They’re getting there and here’s to them overtaking M&R permanently next week.

A&C gay? Not surprised if its true. After all how many gym buddies do u know that are straight. But who cares as long as they beat the crap out of M&R and get 1st position.

Pam and Vanessa… I dun mind them being in any position. Literally.

  10. Mojo Says:

Deric - lol I noticed Vanessa doing that too. However I have a feeling she was slowly becoming delusional without realising it when she grabbed em. She couldn’t even look at right side of the street.

And info freako. Don’t blame Mckay. Ratings this season is through the roof. The sad reality is that Asians are shallow who love seeing attractive people. Look at all the chinese/korean/japanese singers who have 0 talent but worshipped by many. Yes, we are shallow.

  11. Izad Says:

Y : I don’t know what the current viewership is like.. which got me to thinking : how are ratings done here in Malaysia/Asia? I know they use the Nielsen’s ratings in the States.. and even THAT is not accurate (if you don’t have a Nielsen box at home, it don’t really matter what you watch). Some people have said the ratings for this season is through the roof, but some said it’s just a 2% increase. Who knows? but.. Who cares? LOL

MrsG : Hey! I actually was rooting for Rob when ntv7 interviewed me during the finale (even though I already knew Amber won). I actually think Rob played brillianly in ASS. It’s when they start mediawhoring themselves all over post-ASS that made me like them less.

freako : I know.. the TAR concept is entirely GONE. When the same team comes in first for god-knows-how-many legs in a row. It is NOT a Race. And the show is anything BUT Amazing at this point. Heck, I’m having much more fun watching (Z-list) Celebrity Apprentice right now.

Deris : LMAO I did not notice the boobies-cupping. Must.divert.roviltwat.hatred.to.something.else.

Mojo : LOL yeah, we ARE that shallow, aren’t we? So sad, but I acknowledge that, that is the truth. Are you sure about the ratings? Like I said at Sucks… I still vote for cancellation. That or sacking that piece of shit McKay, the entire casting department and the idiotically oblivious editors.
