The Amazing Race Asia 3 : Episode 07

by @ 10:34 pm. Filed under Amazing Race

OHGODDAMNFUCKINGSHIT

There I’ve said it.

Well that was what I was thinking the first 59 minutes of tonight’s episode anyway. Can’t say that this was unpredictable, as they did the same thing with Terri/Henry from last season (saved from elimination back to back).. but I thought this would be a To-Be-Continued leg. Am I happy with the outcome of this episode? I dunno.. I’m kinda torn, but I’m glad Ida and Tania are still in the race.

Teams started off from the last leg (Sam/Vince were first to start the leg at 5:47am, and Ida/Tania were last to start at 9:57am). Teams had to travel to Mongkok Market and collect two goldfish and deliver it to an aquarium. Perhaps one of the most WTF challenges this season. I mean, it’s not like catching and delivering live chicken on foot somewhere. All they had to do was carry two bags and get on a taxi and wait for the aquarium to open. Teams were stalled with the Hours Of Operations as the shop only opens at 11am (sorry but what kind of a lazy ass opens his shop at 11am?).

Next they had to get on a ferry to Macau. Sam/Vince actually ran on foot to the ferry station, and got a huge lead, Major home advantage if there was one.  Tisha/Geoff swapped for a ferry that leaves 5 minutes earlier than AD/Fuzz and Henry/Bernie - which proved to be an excellent move on their part cause that contributed to the lead that they maintained the rest of the leg. Even 5 minutes makes a difference, y’all. Ida/Tania took a ferry much much later than the rest.

Once in Macau, they had to go to Senado Square on a petticab (?) aka trishaw and get their next clue. Caution : Yield Ahead. Sam/Vince mentioned that they might yield someone but they didn’t mention names - but I already knew they were targetting Henry/Bernie, way before Sam high-fived Tished later. I mean, that only made sense. Geoff/Tish were the next to arrive, and THEY yielded Henry/Bernie. I’m not their fan, but that was totally understandable, and justified IMO. It’s about time the rest of the four teams realize that Henry/Bernie are the alpha-male team this season, and they need to be stopped if the rest really wants to win this race.
The next Roadblock was to ‘climb the ladder of success’. Teams had to climb up Macau Tower and climb up the tower mast. Hmmm challenging roadblock, cause I would’ve been petrified myself, but we JUST saw this challenge on Monday on TAR13. *shrug* Anyway, Vince finished first, followed by Geoff. Fuzzie was overtaken by Bernie (whose yield lasted for only 15 minutes). Tania came soon after. While doing the challenge, Fuzzie and Tania were basically given their clues before completing the challenge, because of bad weather. Hmm another lame mercy fucking clue. When will this stop? Shouldn’t they be given some time penalty for that? Yeah I don’t care it’s bad weather. Nevermind lah.

Next the teams needed to go to Dragon Boat Pier and select a marked boat and paddle it around a bouy. I thought this would’ve been too much on the person who just did the Roadblock, because both tasks require strong upper body strength. I can only imagine how exhausted those racers were. Next was a Detour and teams had to choose between (1) Dance - complete a lion dance, or (2) Chance - win 9 rounds of blackjack in a casino. All teams but Geoff/Tisha did Chance. Not much drama here, although it was fucking funny watching AD and Fuzzie’s look of disbelief when they saw the dress. I was so laughing my ass off with their comments about that. Sam’s (seriously I don’t know which one is which.. so… sorry if I get the names wrong) switching the name tags on Henry/Bernie’s attire was a pretty ssts (snickering silently to self) moment.. but between this and their desire to yield Henry/Bernie, I guess they’re even more fake than Geoff/Tisha. I’m just saying, ya know?

Once they finished the detour, the teams head to the Ama Culturally Preconditioned Village where they had to arrange the chinese lanterns according to the Chinese Zodiac, before they were allowed to go through the doors and straight to the next pitstop. I thought this was quite an interesting challenge, before finding out that they actually had clues to help them determine the order. But oh well.. at least it was quite an attempt to include some sort of cultural thing into this leg.. I mean, they really should, seeing that they’ve stayed practically in the same region for the last few episodes.

Geoff/Tisha was the first team to arrive at the pitstop, their FIRST, I believe. They did well this episode, so good for them. I was actually glad that they were first to arrive, than the HK boys who seemed pretty overconfident this episode. Sam and Vince followed closely behind. Surprisingly AD and Fuzzie came in third place, even though they finished the Chance detour after Henry and Bernie did, who apparently had a tough time looking for a cab. And because of that, Henry and Bernie came in fourth place. And fucking finally, the beautiful Ida and Tania. I was devastated. I really thought that they would be toast this episode, if not for the NEL. But it was close. Ida and Tania were saved from elimination. However, they must come in first place in the next leg, or they will incur a 30-minute penalty.

I can only hope for miracles to start happening next week. PLEASE DON’T LET MY GIRLS GET ELIMINATED!!!!

I’m happy too, though I felt that Ida & Tania’s departure is looking inevitable, they do not seem to have the fire in them already.

I hate Geoff so I don’t want this team to win. I’m rooting for Henry & Bernie.

  2. synical Says:

Dude, I think the word you’re looking for is “pedicab” (seriously).

Yah… at this juncture I thought there might be a NEL. Ida and Tania wasted a taxi ride getting to the dragon boat task (just as everyone else walked over).

I also thought the Zodiac thing might take awhile (even I don’t know the full order)… so potong steam that they’re given hints on the lineup. Cheh.

I have NO idea where they’re going from the preview lah - I’m inclined to say Thailand cos of the tuk-tuks, but see how lah.

  3. Izad Says:

Gallivanter : I know.. I’m super glad Ida/Tania are still in the race, but you can see that they’re totally spent on the race at this point. And it hurts me to say this, but I feel like Geoff/Tisha are getting the winner’s edit — what with all the exclusion from the rest of the team, plus Geoff’s redemption of her treatment to Tisha, and the softening of their ‘badass’ edit. I hope I’m wrong though.

Synical - pedicab! Thank you! I heard they’re heading to Cochin, India next week (but not too sure about that). Maybe Ida/Tania can pull a Charla/Mirna by getting an earlier flight there. *le sigh*

  4. Mrs Giggles Says:

Sam and Vince are so ridiculous. Because the taller one throwing a baby tantrum on the dragon boat to the self-appointed comedian’s not-funny jokes, these two are starting to grate on my nerves. One can argue that Tania and Ida are the biggest attention-hogs of this season, but the gals know how to be funny, unlike Sam and Vince.

It doesn’t make sense to yield Henry and Bernie. I mean, Tisha and Geoff do not know how far behind Henry and Bernie are, so yielding that team only sets them back by fifteen minutes. If you want to use the yield, make sure that it counts. In this case, the yield should be used on Tania and Ida. Using it on Henry and Bernie only serve to annoy them, but using it on Tania and Ida can really kill those gals. Then again, if Geoff and Tisha merely want to annoy Henry and Bernie, mission accomplished!

Oh, Henry. He’s as bad as Geoff, really, because he acts like a victim when he’s been as bad as Geoff in maintaining their feud. Must he be so childish in insulting Geoff and Tisha behind their backs? I mean, yes, he’s pissed, but come on, he knows why they did what they did, so he should get off his high horse and stop pretending to be the innocent victim. Why does it hurt to realize that Geoff and Tisha yielded them? Hello, that’s to be expected!

An okay leg, nothing too exciting, but given that next week we are probably leaving Macau for some place else, that can give Ida and Tania a chance to catch up with the others. I can’t wait!

  5. Ida Says:

*removed because we <3 the real Ida* ~izad~

  6. Izad Says:

Mrs G : Sam/Vince’s ‘mean’ streak is coming through this episode, and I am totally seeing Geoff’s redemption edit. Things are not looking good for the Msian teams. Henry snubbing Geoff/Tish because of the Yield surprised me.. I thought he’d be the bigger person. But I still like him. ;)

‘Ida’ : nice try, poser :p

  7. zewt Says:

i just think AD and fuzzie are too damn lucky. they didnt really put effort into rushing and their luck just let them through. at the tower, i dont think fuzzie could have finish the climb if not of the weather. so unfair to the other team. yeah, they should have at least a 30 minutes penalty or something.

all these go to show that beside being smart and strong, one needs a loooooooot of luck to win the amazing race.

  8. Mrs Giggles Says:

Izad, on the optimistic side, I’d like to think that they are hyping up the Henry and Geoff feud because those two teams are going to be in the F3. I actually have no problems with Geoff and Tisha winning, surprisingly. The only team I don’t like at the moment is Sam and Vince, and that’s only because their jokes always fall flat with me.

  9. Terra Says:

I thought this episode was pretty cool. But don’t they ever get out of Asia, ever? Anyway, I was surprised that some of the teams struggled with the zodiac signs. I know their arrangement and I’m not even Chinese!

I think most of the teams are pretty alright, but I’m rooting for Henry/Bernie

  10. Dan Says:

I wouldn’t blame Ida/Tania for being spent, because they both are freakin beasts. Seriously, they both run around like crazy (as seen in this episode) and I reckon Tania killed that climb really quickly.

I really hope they stay next week, but if that do that surely means AD/Fuzzie are gone. I’m torn. Can’t both F/F teams be in the top 3 :) ?

I don’t really mind Geoff/Tisha now, but Geoff is still annoying. He talks just like Roviltwat, and I think we all know my stance on Roviltwat. Annoyingly smug whiny kid voice hate!
