I never thought I would say this but I wish The Duke was back on but only because if it was on, the TAR rerun would start at midnight, and if I was working the Europe hours, I would reach home just in time to watch it. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case. The rerun last week started at 11pm, and I only caught the last 10-15 minutes of the episode. Didn’t quite have the desire to wait for other reruns over this past week.. so I let it slip.
Anyway, from what little that I saw, (and read), I didn’t think I missed it all that much. The first part of the Dubai leg didn’t sound too exciting. I thought there’d be more satisfaction watching Lance get eliiminated.. but he didn’t act too douchey for me to dislike him as much. Fortunately, there was plenty of douchiness this time around courtesy of Canaan.. so yay!
Teams started off on the second part of the Dubai leg. They each had to carry a briefcase, and complete a roadblock at a Yacht Club or something, where they had to paddle a rowboat to a yacht, get a rolex from some Sheik, and decipher the clue on the clock to get the combination of the briefcase to get their next clue. Can I just say lamest.clue.ever? The code was basically the time shown on the clock (835), and just when you think it was a no-brainer, some one STILL couldn’t figure it out (and was beaten by two other teams while trying to figure out) - but hey, at least the Globetrotters were able to laugh at themselves after figuring out the clue.
Next was a detour between (1) Gold - where teams had to weigh the exact amount of gold valuing to exactly $500,000, they had to weigh the gold according to the current gold exchange rate which changes every minute, or (2) Glass - where teams had to assemble 12 shishars. One would think the first option would’ve been faster to complete, but Brian and Ericka fucked that up so badly that they needed to change their detour. Sam & Dan had a calculator with them and shared it with Maria and Tiffany to get the correct amount - and fast. I’d normally say it is seriously stupid to share stuff to help another team get a leg up on the race, but this is one of the rarest moments ever in the race that actually paid off. So well done.
After the detour, teams had to go to Atlantis at The Palm to plunge down a 6-storey almost vertical water slide. All teams had no problems with this (it looked awesome, btw), except for the second last team, Mika and Canaan. Mika has a fear of heights, and Canaan was being incredibly douchey. I mean, Mika is a stupid bitch for thinking they weren’t gonna do any height-based challenges in this race.. hello, ever seen the race before? I swear, sometimes it’s not worth casting mactors for programs like these. But Canaan, IMO was a Class-A asshole for physically trying to force Mika down the slide. I mean, come the fuck on! You’re not fucking helping her calm down by doing that. Ah well… it was incredibly delicious when Big Time and Flight Easy arrived at the water slide and egged Mika on. That was bloody hilarious. And it worked. So the Globetrotters overtook Mika and Canaan (Mika never did the course, while Canaan took the plunge) to become the second last team to arrive.
In the order of their arrival at the pitstop
1. Megan & Cheyne - thanks to the Fast Forward they took last week, it would’ve been a surprise if they didn’t come in first place considering they had a two hour advantage over the other teams. Megan reminds me of someone… I cant put a finger to who (I wanna say Molly Shannon but I’m sure I’m thinking of another obscure and forgettable reality tv contestant). They are perhaps the most boring team left on the race.. which means they’re most likely a shoe-in for the fnals.
2. Maria & Tiffany - they made a good choice to do the Gold detour with the brothers. Actually even without the brothers, they probably would’ve just borrowed a calculator and figured it out by themselves (cause the brothers surely didn’t). From second last place to second place. Not bad at all!
3. Sam & Dan - Meh.. they ran a pretty decent race this leg. If it weren’t for Maria & Tiffany, who knows how long they would’ve taken to figure out the Gold detour. And I was LOLing when the girls described them as the Baywatch Boys. Faghags can be so precious <3
4. Brian & Ericka - I must say that I’m liking Brian more and more. Ericka.. hmm I’m not quite there yet.. but at least they’re not tearing each other a new asshole. Just yet, anyway. Can’t wait to see Ericka’s meltdown next week. Woohoo!
5. Gary & Matt - this team is hardly a blimp on my radar. I think they’re doing significantly better than the father/son team last season.. but they just have no storyline (except when there’s any farm related tasks going on.. or maybe just piles of hay, like in this episode).
6. Flight Time & Big Easy - (taunting Mika) “Don’t do it!” “You’re gonna hurt yourself, baby” Seriously, need I say more? I love this team. <3
7. Mika & Canaan - kthxdie
Just an okay episode for me though. Next week, it seems like they’re flying out to Europe. And.. whoa.. we only have 6 teams left?
